WikiFur:Personal exclusion

Jump to: navigation, search
This page is an official policy on WikiFur. This policy serves as a place to record previous consensus actions, and should be followed except when consensus dictates otherwise. Significant changes to this policy should first be proposed on the discussion page.

If you do not wish to be included in WikiFur, please contact an administrator requesting removal. The request will need to come from a verifiable address. In most cases, your request will be granted. This will entail complete removal of the article about you, and its replacement with the notice

{{Protected-Excluded}} which displays as:
This article left blank by request.

The subject of this article has contacted WikiFur and asked not to be included. To respect their privacy, we have blanked and protected this page.
If you are the subject and wish to be unexcluded, please contact an administrator.

This does not include total exclusion from WikiFur (such as mentions of you in other articles). See WikiFur:Personal information.

Note that if there are simply incorrect facts, you can edit them out yourself - help improve the information about yourself! If the facts are correct, then your only recourse is to request removal as above. Also, this policy is restricted to information about you, and does not prevent other pages mentioning you in passing, unless they include information that would properly be on a page about you.

[edit] Alternatives to full exclusion

WikiFur allows privacy of personal information such as exact location, real name (if not the primary name used within the fandom), phone numbers, e-mail addresses, birthdays, instant messenger accounts and similar contact details. Such information can simply be removed without asking for full exclusion.

It's also generally accepted that if one person has multiple personae that are generally kept separate, we are willing to avoid linking the two on WikiFur. This is a common courtesy for groups like MUCKers and fursuiters, but other people may have reasons for wanting this as well. Asking to keep two personae separate is another alternative to full exclusion.

If your concern is that someone can edit the article about you without you knowing about it, there is a way to set it up so you are e-mailed every time the article changes. First, create an account if you haven't done so already. Under "my preferences", enter your e-mail address, and check the box labelled "E-mail me when a page I'm watching is changed" while you're there. Follow the instructions for authenticating your e-mail address. Second, add the article about you to your watchlist (click the "watch" tag while viewing the article you want to watch). You can now receive a notification each time the article about you is changed.
