Artist's Self-Portrait

M.C.A. Hogarth, aka Micah or Poomah or M. de Alarcon (maiden name), is a furry artist and writer. Her avatar is a jaguar. She has invented several fantasy species, the Jokka, the Ai-Naidar and the Le'enle. Micah was a guest of honor at Midwest FurFest 2003. She is a greymuzzle, with her earliest known work appearing in Yarf! #0 in 1989.

Micah's short story In the Line of Duty was the winner of the 2003 Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction. Her short story 'Rosettes and Ribbons' appears in Sofawolf Press' Best in Show.

Additional short stories have appeared in Sofawolf Press's Anthrolations ('Butterfly' in #1, 'Dark Lighthouse' in #3 and 'The Blade to Your Hand' in #5). Other fiction also appeared in Yarf!, Pawprints, Morphic Tales and in general SF/F magazines Strange Horizons, The Leading Edge and Oceans of the Mind. Her stories about Alysha Forrest were collected and published as a book entitled Alysha's Fall by Cornwuff Press in 2000.

As of 2008, her latest short fiction has been collected in two books, The Aphorisms of Kherishdar and The Admonishments of Kherishdar and concern a caste-based society of vaguely feline aliens.

Micah's art has appeared in fanzines, APAzines and various comic anthologies, including Anthropomorphine, Beauty of the Beasts, the Caffeine Quarterly, Centaur's Gatherum, The Ever-Changing Palace, Excursions, Foxes are Neat, Fox One, Furrlough, Gallery, Huzzah, Mythagoras, North American Fur, Pawprints, The Pelt, Wildlife and Yarf!.

She has also done illustrations for the World Tree RPG and a cover for the World Tree novel A Marriage of Insects.

Micah also built TKI&I Clothiers and Jewelers, a room on FurryMuck with over 200 descriptions of clothing and jewelry. Her Basilica on that muck later became the source for the roleplaying Muck Genesis.
