Gordon Spurlock, the primary artist of Minotaur Comics, began drawing anthro comics and pinups in the 1970s, long before finding his way into furry fandom. His self-published graphic novel, Spike (1994), was concerned with the sex lives and political sensibilities of a group of working class gay men in the Chicago area. Gorilla Friday (1987; published 2000) is a non-erotic interspecies love story. His other characters include Gustav and Lionel, a leather/S&M couple, and a nameless Lion whose wordless erotic adventures in the veldt are a feature of Spurlock's self-published anthology comic, Labyrinth Comics/Portfolio.

Spurlock, under a pseudonym, has only recently begun to post his erotic artwork online.
