FurrySpace

FurrySpace is an outer-space-themed area of FurryMUCK that was once a popular location for science fiction-based roleplay.
FurrySpace on FurryMUCK (often abbreviated FS@FM to differentiate it from FurrySpaceMUCK and the modern Stellar Convergence) was once one of the largest themed roleplay areas of FurryMUCK. It was made up of hundred of rooms simulating space, many planets, and ships. It had a loyal and insular following among players, many of whom existed on FurryMUCK solely to play in FurrySpace, and had many programs that were specifically written for FurrySpace.
As FurrySpace grew, so did its demands on FurryMUCK. Several times action in FurrySpace lagged the entire MUCK down. This, combined with the desire for many things that could only be provided by a separate MUCK (such as a functional economic system, skills/traits, etc) lead to the creation of FurrySpaceMUCK (FSM), later known as Stellar Convergence. Over the course of 2000 and 2001, the game was mostly transferred from FurrySpace to the new MUCK. Several years later, this new MUCK was renamed Stellar Convergence (SC or SCM).
FurrySpace continues to exist though in various states of repair. Since many of the players in FurrySpace played exclusively there (and generally didn't involve themselves in the rest of FurryMUCK), many simply quit connecting when FSM formed and as a result many areas of FurrySpace have disappeared when their owner players were idle purged. Such was the case with one of the main gathering areas of FurrySpace, Dreamstar Station.
A small number of players continue to roleplay in FurrySpace. Since Stellar Convergence closed at the end of 2005 there has been some effort made to revive the area, but several problems have been reported after the most recent idle-character purge (April 2006). Coinciding with the close of SCM, there has been an effort by several of the roleplayers in FurrySpace to re-build and re-furbish the area with new, better connected areas, new, better maintained programs, and better maintained starting guides. The effort has hit snags on both the coding and building fronts, though as of August 2006, the effort continues, albiet at a slow pace.
As of May 2007, FurrySpace has been re-born as FurSpace, or just 'space'. STill not linked to the main grid, FurSpace is in a useable state, and is currently open to players .
